Colorado Feeding Kids is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide fully nutritious food to impoverished children around the world. Rice, soy, dehydrated vegetables and vitamins are purchased in bulk and repacked into 6-serving meal packages at the cost of $0.25 per meal. These highly nutritious meals are designed to reverse the starvation process in children. In May of 2009, the DTC Kiwanis Club donated $5,000 and about 65 volunteers to provide 20,000 meals to local Colorado children who don’t have food provided by the free school lunch program over the summer. The Club also has donated thousands of dollars in additional funds and many volunteer hours since May of 2009 to purchase more sealers and scales for more efficient meal packaging, for more meals to be provided to people in need in Haiti and Nepal after earthquakes, and for more meals to be provided to people in need in Africa and in the Denver area.
